FAQ
YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Some of the most frequently asked questions we've received are answered below. We'll update this page regularly and we'd appreciate it if you looked at it first before reaching out in case there is already an answer for your question.
WHAT IS YOUR PROCESS FOR EDITING AN AUTHOR'S WORK?
First, we like to get to know more about your book—a brief description, the genre and your publishing
goals—and the word count. We also ask for a work sample to be sent by e-mail for assessment. We require
a full chapter, or at least 10 pages of your manuscript, preferably from the middle, or better, your
entire manuscript (all material is treated as confidential). This will help us to decide the best editing
services for your book and provide you with a precise quote and timeframe for your work to be complete.
WHAT SOFTWARE WILL YOU USE TO EDIT MY MANUSCRIPT?
We use Microsoft Words's native editing suite for all editing so you do not need to worry about requiring any special software. If you are not already familiar with using this feature of Microsoft word, you can learn it easily by taking this FREE, 22-minute Microsoft Word Basics for Manuscript Revision
Course that we've put together for you.
WHAT TYPE OF WRITING DO YOU EDIT?
We edit all genres of fiction, and nonfiction, including memoir, screenplays, poetry, academic books, and business
and company communications. Please send contact us to let us know what you would like to work on.
WHAT KIND OF MATERIALS WILL YOU NOT EDIT?
We prefer not to work with materials that contain content that is overly disturbing, such as sexually explicit
content, content portraying sexual abuse, violence, torture, rape extensively or graphically, or/and for their
own sakes.
WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?
Our rates for book editing services are based on your manuscript’s total word count and the difficulty level
of editing it. With other services, we charge a fee that's based on the selected service(s). Bundling
services will help you save money on fees as we offer bundle discounts.
WHAT IS YOUR GENERAL PROCESS FOR WORKING WITH AN AUTHOR?
Working with an author on a book project will often start with a free or paid consultation. If you are not sure
about paying a consultation fee first, please call or send an email and we'll assist you as much as possible
to select your services at no cost.
We'll direct you appropriately in the event that you need to book a paid consultation to discuss your book
project in greater or fuller detail.
WHAT TYPES OF CLIENTS DO YOU WORK WITH?
We work with indie authors and traditional authors, professionals, companies and businesses, book publishers,
literary agents, entrepreneurs, film producers, screenwriters, poets, post-graduate students and scholars, and
more.
HOW CAN I GET PRIORITY ATTENTION FOR MY WORK?
We book projects on a first-come basis, so we encourage you to contact us and reserve a spot right away! However,
we do provide expedited services at special rates so get in touch and let's see how we can fit your project into
our queue.
